The Flower Recipe -book

I know this book was published already in 2013 but I got my piece just a few days ago. I’ve been wanting it for a long time, but somehow I just forgot it. But now it’s here: The Flower Recipe Book by Alethea Harampolis and Jill Rizzo from Studio Choo. Even before I opened my own little flower shop Kasvihuone I’ve been studying and really getting into more natural way and style of treating flowers in arrangements and bouquets. And this book is all about it. I really love the more technical pages where they show what do you need and how to do it. And the flower arrangement recipes are like candy pages: so beautiful and you just want to jump into the picture to enjoy the flowers even more. Perfect for daydreaming!

Greenterior

PLANTS – ARE – COOL!!! I’ve always known that so it’s so awesome to see this new book called Greenterior coming up. At the moment plants seem to be cooler than ever and this book definitely shows that. The book gives you a glimpse of lives of people who love plants. I don’t have this book, yet, but it looks so good, tickles the graphic designer and the gardener in me in so many ways, that I think I just have to have this.   KASVIT – ON – SIISTEIII!!!!

The book about Moss and Lichen

I know, I know. I’m a geek when it comes to plants. Well, when it comes to many things like astronomy, crafts, history, actually anything interesting. All the books in my bookshelf are nonfiction books. I want to know everything. And I love that I have a boyfriend who knows the geek in me (and who also is an information geek). Here’s a book he gave to me as a Christmas present. A book about Finland’s moss and lichen (by Jouko Rikkinen). How cool is that!!! Especially now that I’m more into moss than ever before thanks to Japan’s beautiful moss gardens. I’m so waiting for the summer so that I could go to a forest to identify every single piece of moss and lichen. Until that there’s awesome pictures and interesting information for me to see and read.

sami tallberg wild herb cookbook

Wild herb cookbook

Sometimes it’s better to wait for something to be found than just spend money to get it right away. This happened with a book we just found from the flea market and it was so cheap. It’s Sami Tallberg‘s Wild Herb Cookbook that we’ve been talking about purchasing for a long time. The book is just meant for us because it combines the passions of us two: cooking and plants. The Chef loves the simple recipes and I love the facts of foraging plants for food. Perfect! I always knew that there’s so much to use in Finland’s nature, but this book finally gives me some instructions (and boy, I love the nonfiction and informational books). The book has sections for each foraged plant with one recipe to use it. There’s also information about the season charts and other useful things. (And also, I didn’t know that the book comes in English, too! I actually like it more that way.)

100 projects for garden

Today I went to my local library and drowned myself into the new gardening books. The spring enthusiasm just keeps growing. And I found this book which seems witty and wonderful. It’s called 100 projects for garden (originally it’s Swedish 100 projekt för trädgården) from Malena Skote, an architect, writer, illustrator and photographer. Now, I love crafts and gardens so this book is just about those two things. Doing quite awesome stuff for your garden (not too romantic, not too big projects, a bit more minimalistic, just the way I like it). And yes, this book has just been published so it’s brand new! I picked up few of my favorite ideas like a crocheted birds nest and moss basket but the book is full of great things. I would love to test out every single one the ideas. …
